Clondaw Westie Claims Novice Victory

Quirky 7 year old Clondaw Westie headed to Leicester on 15th February for his first run in a Novice Chase. We were hopeful as the ground looked to be suited to him and we had the advantage of having Aidan Coleman on top; the perfect jockey to give a horse that isn't the easiest some self confidence his first time over fences. Westie jumped well throughout, and although racing keenly he travelled nicely. Despite hitting the ditch final time, Aidan allowed the horse to regain confidence over the next couple before making a move. He then gallantly went on to win in style by 8 lengths. Having showed so much natural talent over a fence in training we were very happy to see it translated onto the racecourse, and he is beginning to show that he is the horse he has promised to be at home. A lot of hard work has been put into settling this horse at home, with credit to work rider Frank Windsor-Clive, who adores the gelding. It was great to have the owners, Paul & Doreen Caudwell, present in full force on the day, and there to collect the winning trophy! He looks to be a horse to have fun with in the future in testing conditions and on right handed tracks.

Post race Westie looking very happy!
