A Quick Mid-Season Update with Joe

Updated: Feb 8, 2018

It's been a great start to the season, with 4 winners from my 5 rides for Dad and currently sat in second in the national title - it's a long way to go yet however! Hawkhurst has obviously already been a great help with 2 wins from 2 runs; he's looking to be a really good fun horse to go to war with this season!

It was brilliant to get the win on Supreme Danehill being the first runner for the Sunday Night Partnership. He put on a fine spectacle, showing how tough and game he is and it was a great training performance from Dad to have him so fit for his first time out this season.

Allie Beag was very impressive her first time out with the cheek-pieces obviously working well. As well as having had a wind operation and the hard work put in by all the staff, especially her work rider Lawney, the individual attention given to the mare has shown to help! I hope she will go on to progress from this in the season ahead.

I'm looking forward to riding a new horse to the yard, InMyDay, for Rodney Mann this weekend. He goes nice enough at home, and this will be his GB debut. I can't wait to get Broken Eagle back on a course when we finally get some ground and the same goes for Change Of Luck.

A maiden to look out for is Breakdown Cover, owned by the old man but is for sale to stay in the yard. He is much stronger this year and is a different horse at home; hoping that will show on the racecourse. I also absolutely can't wait for old boy Consigliere to come out which shouldn't be too long now. You'd never know he's 15 by the way he's going at home!
