BALLYBOUGH JACK wins on fast ground

BALLYBOUGH JACK, is considered to be a fast-ground horse, but this ground held no fears for him, and after travelling well throughout, and going on four out, he idled in front after the last and only just held on.

This was his first win in 13 attempts, so he's pretty exposed, but he proved suited by the drop back from 3m.

33/1 winner for Lawney plus a good 4th for A Little More
Lawney hill has had a good couple of Weeks as Jackella scored a 6 length victory and newcomer "A Little More" ran an excellent race in ground far to soft to finish 4th in his maiden hurdle.

Racing post "JACKELLA had not shown a lot in five previous runs over regulation fences - though he did have an excuse last time when the bit slipped through his mouth - and he looked to have a stiffish task under top-weight. But he jumped soundly throughout and, though he showed his greenness by running about after taking it up early in the home straight, he won in the style of a horse who should find more races as he gains in experience."

Past News

1st November 2007

We have had a quiet time of late since MONTY'S ISLAND ran so well to be 3rd at Lingfield to Joe Lively who went on to win so impressively at Cheltenham! We are due to have some runners if the ground isn't too firm this weekend.

BALLYBOUGH JACK may run at Ascot and IN EXTRA TIME and JACKELLA may run next week at Plumpton and Huntingdon. Hopefully it will rain so we can get going!

12th July 2007

We have four horses in for the summer, MONTY’S ISLAND and MYTHICAL TIME are to go novice chasing and two un named 4 yo fillies who will run in bumpers and are both for sale.

MONTY’S ISLAND ran very well earlier in the season with Alan point-to-pointing and won a good intermediate at Larkhill on May 3oth before streaking up in a mens’ open at Umberleigh on the last day of the season June 16th. He has been placed over fences and always tries his hardest.

MYTHICAL TIME also won at Larkhill, and will run in novice chases on top of the ground whenever that reappears! This talented grey mare is also for sale to stay in the yard.

We have entered both Monty and Mythical Time at Newton Abbot next Monday 16th and also Monty at Stratford on Sunday 15th so hope to get a run into them soon.

We have had a few runners recently and travelled down to Wincanton with Mr. Splodge and Relative Hero. Hero ran a stormer to be 3rd to Scotland Yard of David Pipes which was a good run and Mr. Splodge found that at 13 a 2m5f race that developed into a sprint was just beyond his measure! He will have one more run then have a summer off before returning to point to points next season.

Talking of points Alan has had a tremendous run of form which culminated in a brilliant win at Cheltenham for Bon Accord.

He bought the little horse bought privately from Alice Plunkett (Fox-Pitt) after he had followed his progress through 2 runs under rules and one in points for Alice’s mother Celia. Winning his maiden at Cottenham on December 31st, he has progressed rapidly through the season to win his restricted, intermediate and confined and now his first run over regulation fences at Cheltenham. Jonathan Neesom pointed out in his pre race summary that in his races Bon Accord was usually the fastest time of the day, he and the second horse on each occasion had drawn at least 10 lengths clear of the third horse and the horses that he had beaten ran a slightly disappointing race next time out. He won by 2 lengths and battled hard up the Cheltenham hill.

Alan produced yet another young horse to go and win a maiden first time out on Saturday at Kingston Blount when ex-Henrietta Knight trained LUCENT won a 2m5f maiden with supreme ease by 10 lengths under James Tudor. This tall  son of Lucent is nearly 17hh and still has plenty of filling out to do so will strengthen up considerably. He is for sale to stay in the yard as stated on our Horses For Sale link.
